Inheriting the successful DNA of the SP3, the SP5 is designed for audiophiles pursuing excellent sound quality and expansive spatial performance. It is equipped with larger professional-grade acoustic units, providing more powerful power output, featuring rich input interfaces, and supporting precise frequency adjustment. It is no longer confined to the desktop, but can seamlessly integrate with your desktop system to build a complete home Hi-Fi audio system. Whether for audiophile music appreciation, immersive listening in the living room, audio-visual entertainment in the study, or professional audio editing, the SP5 can handle it all with ease, presenting an awe-inspiring professional-grade soundstage, allowing you to freely enjoy an auditory feast every moment.
The 5.25-inch mid-woofer equipped in the SP5 uses the same "Continuum" composite fiber material for its core cone as the legendary B&W 700 series. To meet the mid-to-long-field listening needs in larger spaces such as living rooms, we have poured our craftsmanship into the cone material, magnetic circuit system, voice coil design, and surround structure, comprehensively optimizing them. These precise designs endow the unit with exceptional rigidity and damping characteristics, ensuring that even when faced with surging, highly dynamic scenes, the SP5 can still handle them with ease and remain as stable as a rock. The resulting low frequency has a deep and powerful dive, rich and full volume, blending firmness with softness, full of texture and elasticity, precisely restoring every soul-stirring rhythm and detail.
The SP5's tweeter is not only meticulously selected in material, but its acoustic design also reveals true mastery. The FIIO acoustic team innovatively transformed the soft hemispherical structure inside the dome into a highly efficient sound absorber, precisely absorbing harmful harmonics on the back of the diaphragm, significantly enhancing the purity and transparency of the high frequencies. To achieve the high-end Hi-Fi goals of low resonance and high load-bearing capacity, the SP5 adopts a breakthrough large rear cavity design. This design astonishingly lowers the high-frequency response down to 800Hz, and ensures that even when the diaphragm operates in the ultra-high frequency band above 20kHz, it can easily release pressure, substantially suppressing body resonance.
Dome Tweeter Magnetic Circuit Cooling Technology
The SP5's high-frequency performance is further sublimated: silky smooth and delicate, leisurely and expansively presenting every subtle detail in the music to your ears.*Dome Tweeter Magnetic Circuit Cooling Technology: A magnetic fluid cooling vibration reduction technology that provides high frequencies with better resolution and extension.
Tweeter Acoustic Waveguide Technology
Based on the needs of near-field listening, the SP5's tweeter is designed with a precise acoustic waveguide that accurately controls the axial radiation angle of the treble. The horizontal stripes on the front of the tweeter unit extend from front to back, greatly enhancing the lateral diffusion soundstage.
FIIO's self-developed high-power switching power supply injects a powerful 120W heart into each SP5 speaker, giving it strong driving capability and profound power margins to easily handle various musical dynamics. Universal wide voltage support allows you to enjoy music without borders. Pure power supply is the foundation of Hi-Fi. The SP5 adopts a multi-stage rectification and filtering architecture to independently supply the power amplifier stage, significantly reducing interference. It distinctively utilizes a transformer resonance scheme to achieve a single-to-dual power supply, providing pure, stable, and symmetrical energy to key pre-amp circuits, eliminating DC-DC noise pollution from the source, and achieving outstanding signal-to-noise ratio performance, making the background darker and details clearer. The smart power-saving mode* is thoughtfully energy-efficient with extremely low standby power consumption; when the music plays, it responds instantly, always ready to deliver heavenly sounds.
*Power-saving mode is turned on by default and supports auto-standby and wake-up functions; if this function is not needed, it can be turned off via the APP, and it will not enter standby.
The SP5 is equipped with one renowned Texas Instruments TI TPA3116D2 Class-D stereo digital power amplifier in both the primary and secondary speakers to independently drive each channel. The mid-woofer peak output power reaches up to 60W*2, and the tweeter peak output power reaches up to 20W*2. The TPA3116D2 features short-circuit and thermal protection, as well as over-voltage, under-voltage, and DC protection, providing comprehensive prevention against faults. Under overload conditions, the device will report the fault condition to the processor, thereby avoiding damage to itself.
XLR balanced interfaces are commonly found in professional audio equipment. Compared to standard RCA interfaces, their main advantage lies in strong anti-interference capabilities, making them suitable for long-distance transmission while providing higher-quality audio signals. The SP5 is equipped with professional-grade XLR balanced input interfaces, utilizing three-core differential transmission to synchronously transmit the hot (+) and cold (-) signals, with the ground wire independently shielding against external electromagnetic interference. This achieves a common-mode noise rejection ratio of >90%, completely solving noise pollution in long-distance transmission!
*When the primary speaker is using XLR input, the secondary speaker can only receive XLR input.
*When using XLR input, the RCA audio connection cable does not need to be connected.
*XLR input supports both XLR3 and TRS 6.35 formats.
*Independent volume adjustment is supported during XLR input.
The SP5 adopts low-noise, high-precision electronic volume adjustment, utilizing the NJW1195A electronic volume controller. The primary and secondary speakers each have one built-in. Due to the use of a resistor-ladder electronic potentiometer, it features low offset and low output noise. Its output noise is as low as -118dBV typ. (1.26μVrms), sufficient to ensure pure sound quality, and has an ultra-low distortion rate of only 0.0003%. The volume adjustment range is wide, from +31.5dB to -95dB, and the adjustment steps are as fine as 0.5dB, making volume control highly precise. The use of an amp-level chip in the power amplifier design, combined with the careful tuning of other circuits, brings the SP5's overall signal-to-noise ratio up to 100dB.
*The volume of both the primary and secondary speakers is controlled by the volume knob on the primary speaker.
*Signal-to-noise ratio test data comes from the FIIO Audio Lab.
The SP5 has a built-in Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip, equipped with high-fidelity 24-bit audio processing technology. The integrated advanced DSP can provide personalized audio enhancements to elevate the listening experience. It supports multiple Bluetooth codecs including SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, LDAC, and aptX Adaptive to meet high-end wireless sound quality demands. It can wirelessly transmit high-bitrate audio up to 990kbps, allowing you to enjoy richer wireless audio details. Thanks to the support of high-resolution lossless digital input and LDAC HD codec, the SP5 has also obtained the dual Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Wireless Audio certifications.
*Bluetooth version: V5.1
In traditional passive speakers, the frequency response of a 5.25-inch speaker drops sharply at ultra-low frequencies, making it difficult to perform well below 55Hz. The bass extension function uses technological means to compensate for the physical limitations of hardware design. The SP5 expands the lower frequency coverage range through its circuitry, enhancing the transient performance of the low-frequency band, increasing the sense of low-frequency punch, and the depth of the soundstage, making the bass richer, deeper, and more layered. When listening to music, you can choose the lower limit of the low-frequency response according to different music styles. When watching movies or in gaming scenarios, the bass extension can strengthen the bass impact and elevate the sense of immersion.
0dB/+3dB/+6dB Bass Adjustment
The bass boost function can strengthen the energy of the low-frequency band below 100Hz, increasing the fullness and impact of the low frequencies. At the same time, through adjustment, it can reduce the interference of environmental standing waves to balance the tone. This function can not only handle the problem of muddy low frequencies in small rooms but also meet the demand for impact in large scenes.
-2dB/0dB/+2dB Treble Adjustment
+2dB: By boosting the high-frequency band, it enhances the penetration and detail performance of the sound. For example, using +2dB during mixing can more clearly capture the details of individual tracks, suitable for high-frequency sensitive music genres like strings and electronic music. -2dB: Reduces high-frequency energy to avoid harsh sounds or excessive sibilance, suitable for scenes that require maintaining a natural tone (such as classical music) or suppressing environmental reflection interference.
To provide you with a more refined control experience, the FIIO SP5 deeply supports interaction with the FIIO Control APP. After successfully connecting via Bluetooth, you can perform functions such as input source selection / Bluetooth codec selection / RGB indicator settings / power-saving mode settings / equalizer settings / 10-band PEQ adjustment on the APP interface. Through FIIO's self-developed adjustment algorithms and interfaces, you can perform fine-tuning, as well as simulate and correct the speaker's frequency response curve to satisfy personal listening tastes.
*Web-based PEQ setting path: FIIO official website top status bar - Service & Support - Web PEQ Settings (to be provided in a future OTA update).
Every cabinet of the SP5 is die-cast from an entire aluminum ingot weighing up to 10kg, melted at a high temperature of 650°C, pushing the limits of acoustic physics with cutting-edge metal craftsmanship.
The SP5's housing has undergone a series of meticulous simulations, from the length-width-height ratio designed to prevent standing waves inside the cabinet, to the high-low frequency phase tilt angles. The smooth, arc-shaped edges of the cabinet greatly reduce diffraction on the front panel and cabinet edges, yielding not only a flat frequency response curve but also excellent stereo imaging. The diffusion horizontal stripes on the cabinet surface are not just aesthetically pleasing; every interval is precisely calculated and evenly distributed on the front and side curved surfaces. Acting like a reinforcement rib structure for the cabinet, they can withstand intense vibrations at high volumes. Combined with the cabinet's curved surface anti-standing wave structure, it can even more effectively eliminate unwanted vibrations.
To ensure a pure power supply from the source, the SP5 comes standard with two Furukawa oxygen-free copper power cables, made of the same material as the commercially available LAC-03.
