The AT33 series represents Audio-Technica’s dual-coil MC cartridges, with a heritage dating back to the AT34 integrated headshell MC cartridge born in 1977.
Since then, various models have been developed to meet the changing times. Today, Audio-Technica culminates this expertise into the completely refreshed "AT33x Series."
To solve the common challenges of analog playback, we have integrated all the essential functions from input to output into this compact, refined body.
This marks the first full model change in 11 years since 2014. The lineup includes the AT33xMLB, AT33xMLD, and AT33xEN stereo cartridges,
alongside the AT33xMONO/I and AT33xMONO/II mono cartridges, totaling five distinguished models.
Leveraging decades of cartridge technology and expertise accumulated since our founding in 1962, we have introduced a Zinc Die-cast base for the first time. By selecting premium materials and applying precision machining, we have achieved the ideal structural design.

TRUE MONO Structure: Power Generation from Horizontal Signals Only
Featuring a dedicated power generation coil designed specifically for the grooves of mono records, it operates exclusively in response to horizontal vibrations.
By remaining unaffected by vertical noise components, it delivers sound quality of extreme purity.
- High-Rigidity Duralumin Pipe Cantilever
Utilizes a Duralumin pipe cantilever, which offers superior hardness compared to standard aluminum. While maintaining the smooth tonal foundation characteristic of Duralumin, it achieves a dense, full-bodied, and expressive reproduction.
- Integral Conical Stylus: Optimized for Mono Playback
The stylus shape is perfectly suited for the constant groove width and depth of mono records. Rather than pursuing extreme wide-band reproduction, the design focuses on making the mid-to-low range sound fuller and more substantial.
- Samarium Cobalt Magnet & Pure Iron Yoke
This model is the only one in the AT33x series to utilize a Samarium Cobalt Magnet and a Pure Iron Yoke, ensuring smooth, stable, and texture-rich musical reproduction.
- Broadening Compatibility with New Suspension and Rubber Damping
Compared to previous models, the dynamic compliance is set slightly lower. This enhances compatibility with a wider range of tonearms, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy tonal variations through more diverse combinations.
- Newly Adopted Zinc Die-cast Cartridge Base
The high-rigidity and high-density Zinc Die-cast material suppresses unwanted vibrations and enhances mid-low range expressiveness, resulting in a tight, focused sound that hits the core of the music.
- Hybrid Body Combining Three Optimized Materials
By optimally arranging Zinc Die-cast, Aluminum alloy, and Hard Resin—each with different damping characteristics—resonance is effectively dispersed. This prevents sound from leaning toward specific frequencies, recreating a balanced and natural tone.
- PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) Coils
PCOCC coils eliminate crystal grain boundaries in the direction of transmission, minimizing signal interference and achieving purer, smoother signal flow.

By adopting a threaded specification, mounting the cartridge directly to the end of the tonearm has become significantly easier (no nuts required).
