Open Back Sound
Open-type headphones that control airflow and reproduce the original sound only by
the movement of the diaphragm
The ATH-R30x is a reference headphone that inherits the sound design of higher-end models and
can easily be used to create a music production environment at home.
Closed-back (sealed) headphones create sound by using housing resonance to enhance low frequencies.
Because they block out external noise, they are ideal for musicians recording in studios,
as well as for those listening in public or noisy environments.
Open-back (open) headphones, on the other hand, do not augment the low-frequency range with a housing;
instead, they are free of resonance and allow the reproduced sound of the drivers to be delivered directly to the ear.
The unique driver design allows the airflow generated by the driver to be controlled with the front and back of the housing open,
resulting in a pure and realistic sound field. Each time the diaphragm moves, sound is instantly produced from air vibrations, so frequencies are not artificially converted or altered through acoustic cavities (acoustic ducts) or resonance.
The ATH-R30x is particularly well suited for mixing, mastering and production in private spaces, and provides accurate, natural and expansive sound when used with speaker monitors.
