Koetsu, founded in Tokyo, Japan in the early 1970s,
was the creation of a true audio artisan — Sugano Yoshiaki.
A passionate audiophile, Sugano was also deeply versed in traditional Japanese arts such as kendo,
calligraphy, and urushi lacquerwork, blending these disciplines into his pursuit of audio perfection.
The brand name "Koetsu" pays homage to the famed Edo-period artist Honami Koetsu,
reflecting the philosophy that audio equipment should embody
not only technical excellence but also aesthetic beauty and soul.
